Does anyone know if Locost top wishbones would fit a small chassis Triumph? I was wondering if they used the same top arms as Triumph when they started up. I ask as I've just seen some adjustable top wishbones for approx £70 the pair.

Steering Geometry

Whilst changing the engine in the rover for something a bit bigger, the steering box was in the way so i decided to change to a rack and pinion set up. Have done lots of reading up about steering geometry and bump steer and as i see it the basics are:- plot a line from the upper, inner wisbone pivot through the lower, inner wishbone pivot. The inner ends of the track rods MUST be on these lines to avoid bumpsteer. This sets the width of the rack? Everything else needs to be parallel to the frame/wishbone. Following these basics it gives me a rack width of 24".
The existing set up left the inner ends of the tie rods 21" apart, which worked. Have i got the wrong end of the stick with the basics or do i go with the rover dimensions?

Rear wishbones for Vitesse

Hi all

As mentioned before I've got a bit side tracked on the Vitesse restoration. I've been sorting the worst of the bodywork out on the GT6. Working outside is a pain in the ass, generally as soon as I get the welder out it starts to rain. I have a workshop but no way of getting a car in there unless its in bits. so between showers I've been putting the vitesse suspension together. I want to make up some lower wishbones with rose joints on the outside and a polly bush on the inboard. This was discussed on the forum in 2008 and suggested by GT6Steve and Dave. Found a site on ebay, McGill Motorsport http://stores.ebay.co.uk:80/McGill-Motorsports__W0QQ_fsubZ7241807QQ_scZ1QQ_sopZ2 that sells the joints ect. Dave suggested 1/2 x1/2 rose joints but not sure what tube diameter or wall thickness to use. Thought about 1" tube with 1/8 thickness. Just want to make them strong and safe when four-up but with the advantage of being able to adjust camber and castor. I was also thinking about the trailing arms as the center threaded section has rusted away. Just want to get away from the squiggy feel of the original set-up.

Thanks, any advice much appreciated.

Mark
